[The Health Benefits of Breakfast at BREW]
If you’ve been keeping up with your BREW Year’s Resolution then chances are you’re basking in double rewards points and using them to sample our menu in the search of your next go-to brew.
If you’re just now tuning in, you should know that all month long we’re offering 2X Reward Points on purchases to help you establish the best BREW-tine for 2019. Well…that and every Friday we’re doing weekly scavenger hunts, offering up clues that lead to a hidden treasure somewhere between the Riverwalk, Flagler Village and Holiday Park. Hint* Hint* it’s a BREW gift card. 😉
This week is all about improving your new BREW-tine with some of our healthy, freshly prepared breakfast items.
Now, we’re sure everyone knows that “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” By now, it’s probably pretty easy to dismiss that phrase as grade school hoopla, so we’ll put the health benefits of breakfast back into perspective for you…
…The first step in training to become a Sumo Wrestler [yes, those guys who weigh between 400-600 pounds] is skipping breakfast!
You heard us…Skipping breakfast slows down the metabolism which causes our bodies to retain calories and therefore gain weight. This can make you feel less energized throughout the day, which can be a huge damper on productivity.
But don’t worry, there’s an easy solution to avoiding a sumo-figure this 2019…
Next time you come in for you morning brew-tine take a moment to enjoy breakfast.
It very well may be the best part of your day.
Remember last week when we talked about the health benefits of different coffee preparations and how unfiltered coffees, like espresso, have higher levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol, which can lead to an increased risk of heart disease? Well, with breakfast in your belly you practically negate the negative side-effects of drinking an iced latte or cappuccino.
Many studies have linked eating breakfast to good health, including better memory and concentration, lower levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol, and lower chances of getting diabetes, heart disease and being overweight.
…Now we have your attention, eh. 😉
So, what’s on the menu?
Every day we get an assortment of pastries and goodies from local vendors, which are perfect for a bite on the go.
If you’re in the mood for a pastry, we recommend a croissant from Gran Forno. Have the kids with you? Treat them to a gluten-free muffin from Food Metrics before dropping them off at school. Maybe you have a sweet tooth in the morning? Skip the sugar in your coffee and go for one of Blabby’s delicious cookies.
If you have a minute to stick around and savor your morning brew then order from our selection of freshly prepared breakfast items, compliments of Next Door chef Zachary Mein.
Dan’s ideal morning combo, appropriately dubbed “Avotado,” is a freshly brewed cortado paired with our homemade avocado toast. Honestly, it’s an awesome combo. Not too light, not too heavy. Just the right amount of calories and caffeine for a productive, energized day.
Need something a little more substantial? Go for the avocado grilled cheese or the bacon breakfast sandwich. Either option pairs great with a cold brew. Trust us.
Next time you stop by check out the menu [available for breakfast and lunch]. We’re always open to recommendations, so if there is something you wish was on the menu, leave us a comment below or on Facebook and we’ll relay it to the chef.
